Autumn Arrives At Black Butte Ranch

Hello, everyone!

Warm greetings to you all from Black Butte Ranch. Well, after a fun and relaxing summer, things got a bit perilous in late August when the Milli Fire erupted not too far west of Sisters. We got our share of thick smoke and ash, and even got as high as pre-alert readiness levels – but eventually the outstanding Oregon and regional fire crews were able to contain the blaze. We never did have to evacuate, and Black Butte Ranch and its houses are still standing as sturdy and lovely as ever.

Supporting Sisters Folk Fest, Inc.

One unfortunate consequence of the fire conditions, though, was that the always-wonderful Sisters Folk Festival had to be cancelled only two days before the opening shows. The extra tragedy here is that Sisters Folk Fest Inc. doubles as an active and generous non-profit that provides music and arts education in the Sisters schools – and the festival was its central fundraiser.

If you're visiting us at the Ranch later in the year, please think about supporting Sisters Folk Fest Inc. by attending a show in their year-round concert series (TBA), or by contributing in some other fashion. And there's no doubt they'll be back twice as wonderful next September when the Sisters Folk Fest rambles on again.

Upcoming Events: Crafts, Beer, and Craft Beer!

It's no great secret that great craft beer is one of the cultural staples of Central Oregon. And one of our favorite annual beer events happens right here in Sisters! Saturday September 30 in Village Green Park is the 8th annual Sisters Fresh Hop Fest, hosted by Three Creeks Brewing and benefitting the American Cancer Society. Twenty-four Northwest breweries will be on hand to share their finest fresh hop beers. It's not to be missed! For more information visit

But if you're more into crafts than craft beer, Sisters has you covered! On Saturday and Sunday October 14 and 15, the annual Sisters Harvest Faire sets up shop in downtown Sisters. Sponsored by the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce, this juried arts and crafts fair features a stunning array of handcrafted items from over 180 venders. And there's great food and music to boot! This year Saturday's live musical act will be The Anvil Blasters, an incredible Western Americana band from right here in Sisters. Hope to see you there!
